Story, CV, Publications & Contact

Johnny Chamaki grew up during the 1980’s in Sydney, Australia. He was intrigued with plants, drawing and making his own toys. With an inquisitive and creative mind established he progressed to painting and started to sell various art works to his friend’s parents around the age of 10.

A major direction shift in pursuing a career in design came from a school project. He made a helmet based on the famous Australian Outlaw, Ned Kelly. With words of praise from his teacher, he combined the love of Australian Art and Ned Kelly history, and some 20 years later into furniture pieces (called The Outlaw Series).

Chamaki completed a Bachelor of Architecture at University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) in 1996. Upon graduation, he was awarded the most talented designer of his year.
